Villa di Vetrice – Grati
The Grati family has been growing grapes and olives in Rùfina, Tuscany for five generations. Each bottling comes from a single grove.
Villa di Vetrice is made from Frantolo (90%), Morellino (5%) and Pendolino (5%) olives that are picked entirely by hand. The harvest begins early in November and the olives are pressed every two days. This, along with the cool weather, makes it possibly to obtain a richly green oil with an intense and fruity flavour. It has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Ercole Olivario for best fruity intense extra-virgin olive oil in Italy.
TASTING NOTES by The Rare Wine Company
2008 Villa di Vetrice: Deep, bright green color. Kaleidoscopic nose of pea pods, lavender and freshly cut grass. The palate enters gracefully and builds in thickness, power and richness, culminating in a classically peppery Vetrice finish. A brilliant example of old-school Rufina oilmaking.
